Digital Product Passports and Power Electronics
The electronics industry was forced to replace tin-lead eutectic alloy with alternatives 20 years ago, leading to the adoption of various regulations like RoHS, REACH, and TSCA. The growing concern for long-term sustainability and resource optimization has led to the development of a circular business model, focusing on tracing products from origin to disposal and recycling. This initiative was implemented by the European Commission in March 2022 as part of the EU Green Deal and followed by similar initiatives in the US. The goal is to optimize the use of natural resources and promote long-term sustainability.
