More Than EV Batteries: How Bi-Directional Charging Enables New Battery Applications
More electric vehicles (EVs) are being driven towards net zero goals, with each having a rechargeable battery. EVs can also serve as potential energy sources if they can perform bidirectional charging. This allows power to move both ways, making EVs more than just wheels for transportation. They can also help with demand shifting, power homes during outages, or act as mobile charging units for commercial fleets. Although bi-directional charging is still in its infancy, it can support smarter power distribution in cities and enable industrial charging applications in agriculture, construction, and logistics.
