The AP72250CJ12-7 from Diodes Incorporated is a Synchronous Boost DC-DC Converter that steps up from an input voltage of 0.6 – 5.5 V to an output voltage of 1.7 – 5.5 V. It has a switching frequency of 900 kHz and an efficiency of up to 89%. This converter fully integrates a 20 mΩ high-side power MOSFET and a 26 mΩ low-side power MOSFET that results in a highly efficient step-up DC-DC conversion. It adopts a peak current mode control algorithm to minimize the external component count, thereby allowing the device to handle wide input-to-output ratios. This DC-DC converter achieves outstanding performance in line and load transient responses and provides seamless transitions between boost and pass-through modes.

The AP72250CJ12-7 utilizes under-voltage lockout (UVLO), peak current limit and negative (valley) current limit functions, output short-circuits protection (SCP), and thermal shutdown capabilities to prevent over-voltage-related damages. This RoHS-compliant converter is available in a wafer-level package that measures 1.75 x 1.35 mm and is ideal for USB power supplies, supercapacitor charge storage, low voltage power cells, power banks, and portable consumer devices, and industrial metering equipment applications.
