The TDM3883XUMA1 from Infineon Technologies is a Point-of-Load Buck DC-DC Converter that steps down an input voltage of 4.5 - 14 V to an output voltage of 0.5 - 5.0 V. This converter provides a switching frequency of 800 kHz and has an efficiency of up to 90%. It integrates a PWM controller, multiple MOSFETs, and an inductor that results in a space-efficient and accurate power delivery solution. This converter can operate either in forced continuous conduction mode (FCCM) or diode emulation mode (DEM) during light loads to save power. It can enter a low quiescent current mode during ultra-light load conditions, thereby enabling efficient standby power supply devices.

This DC-DC converter uses an enhanced stability IPOL engine that consists of constant on-time (COT) control with proprietary internal ramp compensation to provide stability. It incorporates pre-bias startup, internal soft-start, hiccup over-current protection, and thermal shutdown functions to prevent short-circuit-related damages. This RoHS-compliant converter is available in a surface-mount package that measures 2.7 x 3.1 x 2.3 mm and is ideal for distributed point-of-load power architectures, general DC-DC converters, communications infrastructure, storage, server, and computing applications.
