The XC9702 Series from Torex Semiconductor are Synchronous Buck DC-DC Converter ICs that convert an input voltage of 4.5-60 V to an output voltage of 2.5-12 V. They provide an output current of 300 mA. These converters also have built-in N-channel driver FET transistors and support a switching frequency of 1 MHz. They incorporate a control logic that allows operation either in pulse width modulation (PWM) mode or PWM/pulse frequency modulation (PFM) modes. The PWM control mechanism maintains constant frequency regardless of the load and therefore, countering noise is easy. The PWM/PFM technique is utilized to achieve high efficiency from light to heavy loads.
These RoHS-compliant converter ICs allow the soft-start time to be adjusted externally with a resistor and capacitor such that it is longer than the internal soft-start time. They have a power good function that monitors the state of the output voltage. Both the soft-start timing adjustment and power good function enable easy configuration of the power supply sequence. The converters include a rich set of protection circuits to mitigate possible damages due to over-voltage, current surges, short circuits, and thermal effects. They are available in surface-mount packages and are ideal for 24 V battery systems, security systems, home appliances, power tools, 4-20 mA current loops, general-purpose power circuits, and industrial automation applications.
