The 1ED3144MC12H from Infineon Technologies is a Single-Channel Isolated Gate Driver IC that has been designed to drive IGBTs, Si MOSFETs, and SiC MOSFETs. It requires an input voltage of 3-15 V (power supply input side) and 9.6-32 V (power supply output side) and provides an output current of up to 6.5 A (peak). This driver is suitable for operation at high ambient temperatures and in fast-switching applications. It is based on coreless transformer technology that enables accurate data transfer across the isolation barrier. This driver consists of a coreless transformer, filters, MOSFETs, and protection circuits. The input pins of this gate driver operate using CMOS threshold levels to support 3.3 V microcontrollers. It has a propagation delay of 40 ns with a part-to-part matching time of 7 ns.
This gate driver IC provides an isolation voltage of up to 5.7 kV (RMS) for 1 minute as per the UL1577 flame retardant standard and offers very high common-mode transient immunity of over 300 kV/µs. It connects pull-up and pull-down resistors to an external supply or ground potential to permanently activate the individual driver input. This driver includes under-voltage lockout, over-temperature protection, and active shutdown circuitry to ensure high reliability during operation. It is available in a surface-mount package that measures 4.9 x 1.75 mm and is ideal for EV charging, energy storage systems, solar inverters, UPS systems, AC and brushless DC motor drivers, and telecom SMPS applications.
