The DIO7004LDMP8 from Dioo Microcircuits is a Low-Loss Power Distribution Switch IC that has been designed for applications where precision current limiting is required or when heavy capacitive loads and short-circuit events are encountered. It requires an input voltage of 2.7 - 5.5 V and provides an output current of 1.5 A. This power switch consists of a current limit block, current sensor, gate driver, thermal sensor, P-channel MOSFET, N-channel MOSFETs, and logic design for protection circuitries. It controls the rising and falling times of the input signal to minimize current surges during ON/OFF conditions. This switch uses a constant current mode to limit the output current to a safe level when the output load exceeds the current limit threshold. It is equipped with under-voltage lockout (UVLO), over-current protection (OCP), short-circuit protection (SCP), and over-temperature protection (OTP) to prevent current surges in the circuit. This distribution switch is available in a surface-mount package and is ideal for VoIP phones, USB ports/hubs, set-top boxes, and digital TV applications.
