Fuji Electric Unveils 3rd-Generation Small IPM for Efficient Motor Drives

Fuji Electric has announced the development and release of its new 3rd-generation Small Intelligent Power Module (IPM). It offers significant improvements in energy savings and noise reduction for modern systems. The release marks a significant milestone in the company’s efforts to innovate in energy technology.

The new modules, which leverage and optimize the company’s 7th-generation X series IGBT and FWD chip technology, are designed to address the growing demand for more efficient and quieter power control in various motor drive applications. A key technical achievement is the reduction of noise levels generated during FWD reverse recovery operation, while simultaneously reducing overall inverter losses. The components also feature an improved rated voltage, increasing from 600V to 650V.

This technology is being deployed in products such as the 6MBP15XSJ065-50 IGBT Module, a 650V/15A IPM. This specific model is tailored for AC 100~240V three-phase inverter drives for small power AC motor drives.

Features

  • Low-side IGBTs are a separate emitter type, with short-circuit protection
  • Temperature sensor output function, under-voltage protection
  • Fault signal output function
  • Input interface: TTL(3.3V/5V)Active high logic
  • Utilizes a high heat dissipation aluminum insulated substrate to guarantee high temperature operation (Tvjop=150oC, Tvjmax=150oC )
  • Integrates various protection functions in a package with the same dimensions as conventional products

Application

This newly launched IGBT module can be used in industrial motor drives, servo systems, HVAC inverters, and compact power converters operating on AC 100-240 V, where high efficiency and reliable 3-phase control are essential.
