The Si8220BD-IS from Skyworks Solutions is an Automotive Qualified Gate Driver that is ideal for IGBT/MOSFET gate drives, industrial control systems, switch-mode power supplies, UPS systems, motor control drives, and inverter applications. It requires an input voltage of 6.5 - 24 V. This gate driver is a high-performance upgrade for opto-coupled drivers, delivering a peak output current of 2.5 A, surpassing traditional options such as the HCPL-3120 and HPCL-0302. It sets the standard for performance and safety in opto-coupled drivers, with versatile voltage options for unparalleled stability. It incorporates Skyworks Solutions' proprietary Silicon isolation technology, offering a range of withstanding voltage options (2.5, 3.75, or 5.0 kV RMS as per the UL1577 flammability standard). 

This AEC-Q100-qualified gate driver, with its LED-mimicking input circuit and reduced drive current requirements, enhances efficiency, making it a cost-effective solution. It ensures consistent, short propagation times, minimal unit-to-unit variation, and increased design flexibility. This RoHS-compliant gate driver is available in a surface-mount package that measures 10.30 x 10.30 x 2.65 mm.
