The LTC4296-1 from Analog Devices is an IEEE 802.3cg Compliant 5-Port Single-Pair Power-over-Ethernet (PoE) Power Sourcing Equipment (PSE) Controller that is designed for providing interoperability with 802.3cg Powered Devices (PDs) in 24 V or 54 V systems. It requires an input voltage of 6 V to 60 V. This controller simplifies system design and installation with standardized power and Ethernet data over single-pair cables. It delivers power using external, low RDS (ON), N-channel MOSFETs which minimize voltage drop and ensure application ruggedness. This controller has PD classification and the Maintain Full Voltage Signature (MFVS), which ensures that full operating voltage, is applied to the cable only when a PD is present. It includes SWn pins that disconnect port power snubbers during detection and classification and the WAKEUP pin that supports wake-up forwarding. This controller features telemetry, status, and software control that can be accessed via an SPI bus interface with Packet Error Code (PEC) protection.
The LTC4296-1 provides a versatile SPoE PSE solution for 10BASE-T1L controllers and switches that can easily be integrated with the ADI 10BASE-T1L transceiver portfolio such as the ADIN1100 (PHY), ADIN1110 (MAC-PHY) and ADIN2111 (2-Port switch). It consists of high-side circuit breakers with foldback Analog Current Limit (ACL) that provides controlled inrush and short circuit protection and an optional low-side circuit breaker that protects the negative output against back-feed faults, and ground faults in non-isolated applications. This controller is available in a surface mount package that measures 7.0 x 7.5 mm and is ideal for operational technology (OT) systems, building and factory automation systems, field instruments and switches, security systems, and traffic control system applications.
