The TM2P-10271 from Littelfuse is a Polymer Protected Metal Oxide Varistor that is ideal for cordless telephones, VoIP gateways, fax machines, data modems, set-top boxes, security systems, MDF modules, analog, and ISDN line cards applications. It requires a DC voltage of 260 V for operation. This varistor has a rated power of 0.25 W and a clamping voltage of 455 V. It is designed as an integrated overcurrent/ over-voltage protection device that incorporates PolySwitch PPTC (Polymeric Positive Temperature Coefficient) technology and MOV (Metal Oxide Varistor) technology in a single device to help reduce board space requirements and component count. This IEC 60950-compliant varistor provides current limiting during overcurrent events and voltage clamping during overvoltage events with a reset option so that the equipment remains operational after the fault condition is removed and power is cycled. It helps to address the need for resettable circuit protection devices for use in cost-sensitive PSTN (Public Switched Telephone Network) and VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) telephony equipment. 

This RoHS-compliant varistor helps manufacturers comply with global safety standards, including UL 60950, TIA-968-A, IEC 60950, and ITU-T K.20/K.21 thus providing utmost safety and reliability. It is available in a through-hole package that measures 21 x 12 mm.
