The FOD8384 from onsemi is a Gate Driver Optocoupler that is ideal for AC and brushless DC motor drives, industrial inverters, uninterruptible power supplies, induction heating, and isolated IGBT/power MOSFET gate drive applications. It requires an input voltage of 15 – 30 V. This gate driver leverages onsemi’s coplanar packaging technology, OPTOPLANAR along with an optimized IC design to achieve superior noise immunity and high common-mode rejection. It features an aluminum gallium arsenide (AlGaAs) LED diode that is optically connected to an integrated circuit with a high-speed driver to power a push-pull MOSFET output stage. This driver offers reliable high-voltage insulation with a creepage and clearance distance of over 8 mm and an internal insulation distance of 0.5 mm. It provides fast switching speeds across the full operating temperature range and has a propagation delay of up to 210 ns. This gate driver is available in a surface-mount package that measures 11.30 x 3.65 mm.
