The ACPL-K33T from Broadcom is an Automotive Qualified SiC MOSFET/IGBT Gate Drive Optocoupler that is ideal for hybrid power train DC-DC converters, EV/PHEV chargers, AC and brushless DC motor drives, and automotive isolated IGBT gate drive applications. It requires an input voltage of 15 - 30 V and an input current of 7 - 13 mA. This optocoupler provides an output current (peak) of over 2 A. It consists of an AlGaAs LED, a standard driving diode, a PMOS device, and an NMOS device along with integrated body diodes. This gate driver IC’s AlGaAs LED is optically coupled to an integrated circuit with a power output stage. It features fast propagation delay and tight timing skew, making it suitable for driving SiC MOSFETs and IGBTs used in AC-DC and DC-DC converters.
This AEC-Q100 Grade 1-qualified optocoupler IC provides the necessary operating voltage range and peak output current as required by the gate-controlled devices at high frequency for high-efficiency conversion. It also offers reinforced insulation and reliability that delivers safe signal isolation for automotive and high-temperature industrial applications. This UL-recognized gate driver includes an under-voltage lockout (UVLO) circuit to prevent false trigger events, thereby maintaining the power consumption. It is available in a surface-mount package that measures 5.85 x 6.81 mm.
